It’s a funny thing that even after more than 20 years that we are still confused with that famous Auburn landmark. Toomer’s Coffee [in Opelika] is not associated with “the corner” and never has been. My Dad did discover after he met with Shell Toomer many years ago and researching records in England, that we may have some familial connection back as far as the 1700’s in England, but that’s about it.
KEY FACT: Our name really is Toomer and we own Toomer’s Coffee Roasters
This is the main thing we tell people nearly every week in our shop. Many people say, “We thought you were just using the name”. This is in itself kind of laughable but true.
